An Excursion to Goa- 2017

                                    GOA 2017

Goa is a state in western India with coastlines stretching along the Arabian Sea. Its long history as a Portuguese colony prior to 1961 is evident in its preserved 17th-century churches and the area’s tropical spice plantations. Goa is also known for its beaches, ranging from popular stretches at Baga and Palolem to those in laid-back fishing villages such as Agonda. This runs along the coastline of Karnataka and Maharashtra which is pretty near to known cities like Hubballi township and Belgavi. It is also known as Konkan in western India.

Our Family decided to travel to this place as my vacations started on 22nd of May i.e Monday.
Our trip started with 4 people :-
  • My Father
  • My Mother
  • Myself and
  • My Cousin.
We left on 21st of May i.e Sunday. It was an ಐರಾವತ್  Club Class Bus which left at 8:30 PM and was pretty comfortable and looked like this.

It was almost 1:30 AM when the driver stopped by a Fine Vegetarian Restaurant for Refreshments and Washroom Breaks. My brother decided to have Idly and I decided to keep myself light as possible. We finished our work and headed back to the bus where the door had jammed because the driver had forgotten to release internal pressure; But somehow myself and my cousin pushed it with the driver and successfully opened the door and sighed relief; started the travel and went to sleep.

It was 6 AM when I woke up and took these beautiful pictures of sunrise with fog while sitting behind the window of the A/C Bus.

We Reached KTC Bus Stand,Panjim,Goa around 8:30 AM. We experienced the oncoming Heat-Wave as soon as we got down the Bus and It was around 34°C. We started thinking about the afternoon immediately.

                                     DAY 1 - 22nd MAY 2017

We had some Real Problems now. There were people who said there was UBER in goa. We tried booking an UBER and Alas, we didn't get one. We had to book a local taxi who asked about ₹300
for just 2.5Km. The taxi union had a very strong bonding between them and didn't allow any private taxis like OLA and UBER to operate in this state. We went to the Income Tax Guest House in Porvorim which had got booked by my Mother's Central Government Benefits (**PERKS OF WORKING IN THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT **).

We got down of the OMNI Taxi, got our keys and went inside. It had a messenger from heaven, i.e An A/C!! We had our breakfast cooked by the helpers in the quarters and had a sigh of relief. All of us took a refreshing shower and settled down with our packages. We decided to look for local sightseeing and it was only then we realised it was JUST 9 AM  and we were already late for everthing else other than local taxis who charged around ₹15000 for just a small 30-40Km Round trip.

WE HAD TO SIT IN THE ROOM AND WASTE THE WHOLE DAY -__-

                   (22ND MAY 2017 WASTED)

               DAY 2 - 23rd MAY 2017

After a good night's rest, we woke up at 5 AM and started to freshen up. The cook had cooked amazing poori and sagu which was quite a lifesaver. We quenched our hunger, enquired about the spots we could attend and went back to the room. We had a refreshing shower and started our journey to the main bus stop from where we hired a pretty reasonable cab driver and started our journey.

 1.ST.XAVIER'S CATHEDRAL

I was pretty bummed to see that the roads were so good! This state isn't even 1/8th of Karnataka and already a good 10 times better than ours. We proceeded to the Basilica of Bom Jesus. It was an architectural beauty. It is over a 1000 years old and can't even recognise it is THAT old!  It houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier and is known to be one of the best saints who can heal. Photography is strictly prohibited but still I somehow managed to capture it on my Google Pixel using zoom.

Right in front of it, There is a museum which holds specimens as old as the church. It was pretty good to visit the past for a while. The temperature was approximately 36°C and quite windy which resulted in good pictures with a bad hair day.

The white building behind us is the museum

2.Shanta Durga Temple

We left the place where the cathedral is situated and we went to the shanta durga temple.
The Shanta-Durga temple as it's name states, the goddess situated here is quite the calm faced. It is believed that this devi can grant you boons for child-seekers.

The Shrine is located right in front of this tower which would be lit with diyas during the festive time.We prayed for the goddess and left for the next place.

3.Miramar Beach, Panjim

This was the place where I had most of my fun during the excursion. It consisted of a beach sight-seeing (No, It's not what you're thinking about xD) on a boat, which was the Best to get our asses bumped thanks to the waves below. It included a Dolphin tour too. We saw some really great beach mansions. Some are owned by Celebs and some by the government. Some are believed to be Haunted too.

This mansion is rumored to have tiles and flooring studded with diamonds. Apparently, it is cursed and if you were planning to sell it and elope from the country, BAD IDEA.
After these mediocre look ups, Dolphins finally took their own sweet time to come on screen.

Everybody on the boat got excited to look at it, even though it was more than 200 feet away.
Apparently, After doing some research, These are Ganges river Dolphins which are becoming endangered. If you are a Non-Vegetarian and reading this, Please don't eat it lol ffs. We finished this boat trip and we got down to take some photos. Everybody were tired and sticky. We went back to our Private Quarters and had our lunch because we were hungry. We all took a clean shower and felt fresh. The Departure Bus was that night and we had to leave in the same kind of bus we came in.

The Author had to bathe thrice a day because he is a very selfish butt who doesn't care about saving water and will be referred in third-person by himself from this post onwards.
